Indications

EXCENEL RTU is indicated for treatment of:

• Acute postpartum metritis (uterine infection) caused by organisms susceptible to ceftiofur



• Bovine respiratory disease (pneumonia, shipping fever, BRD) due to Mannheimia spp. (Pasteurella haemolytica), Pasteurella multocida and Haemophilus somnus



• Acute bovine interdigital necrobacillosis (foot rot, pododermatitis) associated with Fusobacterium necrophorum and Bacteroides melaninogenicus



• Acute metritis (0–14 days postpartum) associated with bacterial organisms susceptible to ceftiofur.

Packaging

EXCENEL RTU is available in 100-mL vials.

Dosage/Administration

Intramuscular or Subcutaneous administration:

• Metritis: 2 mL/100 lbs. body weight for 5 days



• Pneumonia: 1-2 mL/100 lbs. body weight for 3-5 days



• Foot rot: 1-2 mL/100 lbs. body weight for 3-5 days

As with all drugs, EXCENEL RTU should not be used in animals found to be hypersensitive to the product. EXCENEL RTU has a pre-slaughter withdrawal time of 3 days in cattle.

No milk discard time is required when used according to label directions. Use of dosages in excess of those indicated or by unapproved routes of administration may result in illegal residues in edible tissues and/or milk.

Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.
